TN Must Stand Against Smuggling Unaccompanied Alien Children!

Since we can’t count on Congress to get this done, it will have to come from the state legislature.

The federal government has known for decades that parents, other relatives and sponsors in the U.S. whether here legally or illegally, have been paying coyotes and other criminal entities to smuggle children to the border who then enter as unaccompanied alien children (UAC). But Congress is too dysfunctional (even when Republicans are in the majority), to do anything about it. State legislators on the other hand have the authority to effectively address the issue. Criminalizing child smuggling is a way that helps protect children, disincentivizes illegal immigration to the state, and makes it clear that the state government will not abet facilitating illegal immigration or turn a blind eye to anyone who does.

Ignoring this practice is unfair to the children and unfair to American citizens and legal immigrants.

Whether a person uses a child to help get them over the border more easily, albeit illegally, or pays a coyote to smuggle a child over the border to reunite with a “biological relative” who may themselves be illegally in the country, using children in this way must stop.

The first situation was sickeningly and tragically illustrated in a recent case of a 2-year old abandoned on the highway by his father with whom he was traveling. According to the mother, the toddler would make it easier for his father to get across the border – “‘they were going through like this with minors…”’

2-year old abandoned by his father and the coyote; toddlers (parents in the U.S.) dropped over the wall

While Tennessee’s state legislators can’t do much about the first scenario, they do have the authority to address the situation (like the toddlers) where someone in Tennessee facilitates the smuggling of a child who will cross the border illegally as a UAC and eventually reunite with a family member or sponsor in the state.

During the General Assembly’s first Joint Study Committee on June 18, 2021, Rep. Ryan Williams (R-  Cookeville), raised an important issue relative to the UAC arrivals in Tennessee. In fact, Tennessee’s GOP Congressional delegation should also pay attention to what Rep. Williams had to say.

Williams talked about his constituent who had travelled to another state to pick up his adoptive child. But before he was able to legally bring his child home to Tennessee, he needed Williams to help him get the paperwork required by the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children corrected. This paperwork creates additional hurdles that must be satisfied before being able to legally bring a minor child across state lines and if not followed to the letter of the law, it can jeopardize the adoption.

BTW, Williams came through for this family.

So here’s the point – an illegal alien living in Tennessee can facilitate the smuggling of a child to the U.S. border without any penalty – federal or state. But a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant  can be penalized if paperwork is faulty? The issue has nothing to do with whether there is a biological connection between the adoptive parent and the child or the smuggling facilitator and the child. It’s about complying with the law.

It’s important to note that smuggling is not the same as trafficking. Human smuggling is defined as:

“the importation of people into the United States involving deliberate evasion of immigration laws. This offense includes bringing illegal aliens into the United States as well as the unlawful transportation and harboring of aliens already in the United States.”

Trafficking on the other hand, is about the exploitation of people using force, fraud or coercion for a sought after objective. It can include for example, sex trafficking, debt bondage and involuntary servitude.

Lt. Gov. McNally and Speaker Sexton are so concerned about Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) being ferried into Tennessee, that they authorized a joint legislative committee to look into the issue; presumably with some intent to determine legislative options in response.

The committee has already held one meeting and has another scheduled for July 13th providing a platform for Blackburn and Hagerty’s offices to wave their consultation bill around and yack about the importance of “transparency”.

Blackburn’s been in Congress long enough to know that bringing home a “transparency” bill with the laughable “consultation” provision which is legislator talk-speak for sounds good, doesn’t really do anything of consequence to address the problem at home. Shows you how little Hagerty understands that he just obediently tags along after Marsha.

And like Mark Green’s new UAC bill, Blackburn and Hagerty appear to be unwilling to take on the child smuggling problem. Green’s bill allows a child smuggled over the border to override the governor’s veto regarding UAC placements in Tennessee. And the “biological relative” in his bill can also be an illegal alien.

Sen. Bo Watson (R-Hixson), who is on the Joint Study Committee, has said he doesn’t want the Chattanooga facility to reopen or any other facility like it to open in Tennessee. Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga), who is also on the Joint Committee, has made it clear that he wants more of these children brought to Tennessee so they can be reunited with “loved ones”. As it turns out, UAC smuggling is more often than not, financed by the parents who themselves are in the U.S. in violation of the immigration laws.

Only time will tell whether the Joint Study Committee is a pro forma or whether state legislators are serious about trying to address the problem. If instead they insist that “immigration is a federal issue” then remind them that 2022 is just around the corner and it looks like that four of the Senate members on the Joint Committee could potentially face a primary if necessary.

Useless Bills on UACs Arriving in Tennessee

There’s the Bill who as the chief executive of the state government either doesn’t have a clue what is going on in his administration or what his politically appointed commissioner is doing to facilitate the welcoming of the arrival of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) who were smuggled into the U.S. illegally more often than not, by parents who are also here illegally. But more than likely, and from all indications, he’s actually known all along.

Haslam feigned the same surprise about UAC arrivals during the 2014 surge. And we all know that Haslam was okay with illegal immigration going so far as to try finishing his run as governor by giving illegal alien students the parting gift of in-state college tuition.

The other useless bills are the ones being filed by Tennessee’s U.S. Congressmen who also have no clue what’s going on in the state they represent .

Blackburn, Hagerty and Fleischmann are giving each other high fives for quickly filing a bill that makes it look like they are doing something to address the arrival of the UACs.

Maybe someday the “Migrant Resettlement Transparency Act” will get yet another untimely after-the-fact federal report published but their bill is both unlikely to see the light of day and is highly unlikely to stop federal dumping of illegal aliens in Tennessee. Tim Burchett is a co-sponsor of Fleischmann’s bill.

The trio insist that before the federal government transports more UAC illegal aliens into Tennessee, details about the kids must be disclosed and that the “Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security consult with governors and mayors of affected jurisdictions before any federally directed, administered or funded resettlement, transportation, or relocation of illegal aliens”.

Consult ? A completely meaningless standard. Consult is the same requirement in the Refugee Act of 1980, which simply means that the federal government tells the state what the federal government intends to do but the state has no option to stop the federal government from doing what they told the state they would do. Consult means like when the Biden administration asked Bill Lee’s office if Tennessee would open an emergency shelter for UACs and Lee said no, but not to worry, because his administration had already approved the Baptiste Group in Chattanooga to take care of the problem.

Let’s imagine the consultation with comrades Nashville Mayor John Cooper and Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon:

Feds: Buenos días mayor. Have you talked to the parents who want their children brought to them? Do you have the list and can you tell us how many children we will be transporting? Are the parents all paid up with the coyotes or are you covering the cost?

Mayors: We are all set to go here! We assured the parents that it doesn’t matter if they are also here illegally because we at least can say we are good Christians and that always trumps lawbreaking.

Then there’s Mark Green’s new bill which he’s using to try and recover from his first UAC bill disaster. In a recent interview, Green still insists that UACs are refugees even though the law is clear that UACS don’t magically get converted into refugees just because the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement takes custody.

“Making those guys be classified as migrants keeps the legal status in a way that the federal government can’t force them on Tennessee.”

What is Green talking about? The UACs already have a status and it’s called illegal. The federal code, as in U.S. law, clearly states that UACs have “no lawful immigration status in the United States” – they are illegal aliens! There is no “automatic refugee status” as Green claims. Even funnier is that a Tennessean reporter gets that as Green admits, his bill still lets DHS house UACs in HHS contracted facilities like the one run by Baptiste Group in Chattanooga.

So while Hagerty, Blackburn, Fleischmann and Green try to out-UAC each other, they continue to ignore the growing adult worker illegal alien population in Tennessee which is a MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. Just take a look at the numbers reported by Customs & Border Protection and see how much cheap labor Republicans protect for their big dollar cronies.

And why aren’t they talking about what Biden and his DOJ are doing to make asylum more easily and more widely available? Shortly after taking office Biden issued an executive order directing the new Attorney General Garland to put new regulations in place to undo the multiple ways in which the Trump administration tightened some of the vaguest and most flexible standards for getting asylum including based on domestic violence and family relationships. So now, “married women in Guatemala who are unable to leave their relationship” can once again be used as a reason to be granted asylum.

As Julie Kirchner who writes the Immigration Journal points out, the “dramatic” asylum changes are coming at the same time that the Biden administration will be rescinding the Title 42 public health authority which the Trump administration used to turn people back from the border. Once Biden pushes these and other changes through, loosening and opening all avenues to enable pretty much any illegal alien to enter and stay in the U.S., all this GOP yakking about transparency and reclassifying UACs, will prove meaningless. Check out these numbers from CBP:

Hagerty’s Letter – He’s Not Accountable for Certifying ‘Tainted Election Results’

Four days before the electoral college votes reached Congress, Hagerty and Blackburn surprised Tennesseans with a strong, forthright commitment to object to certifying the electoral vote stating unequivocally that, “without any reservation that we will stand against tainted electoral results from the recent Presidential election.”

In true swamp fashion, Hagerty and Blackburn turned their backs on both Tennessee voters and their Constitutional duties and sheepishly certified the “tainted election results.”

When confronted for an explanation, Blackburn’s response was “changed circumstances” – whatever that was supposed to mean since nothing changed the problem with the election results.

Hagerty’s overtly hypocritical non-response demonstrates that he is what Tennessee conservatives have always known him to be – a “DeceptiCon,” a term coined by blogger Sundance to describe the Senate’s Republican Professional Political Class, aka, the Establishment GOP. Increasingly, Blackburn has demonstrated that she is also part of this group.

How quickly they both turned their backs on President Trump without whom Hagerty would have had a nothing-themed campaign.

Bottom line – these Republicans don’t view themselves as accountable to voters – they are only accountable to “the swamp,” a system designed to suppress the conservative viewpoint and keep DeceptiCons in office for as long as they can fool voters by making campaign promises that they don’t keep.

When asked to explain his vote to undermine President Trump, Hagerty refused to answer. Instead, he deflected, figuring that annoying inquirers would accept his trade-off of not supporting impeachment.

Read it for yourself and if you aren’t satisfied with Hagerty’s non-response, consider emailing him and letting him know how disrespectfully he has treated Republicans who put him in office.

County GOPs Begin Censuring Blackburn and Hagerty v.2 corrected

If any two legislators deserve censure it’s these two turn-coat senators.

They abandoned their Constitutional duties and the commitment they made to Tennessee voters to object to the “tainted election results” which is exactly how they described what happened in the election for president.

The censure momentum is growing with more county GOPs readying their pens.

Blackburn and Hagerty are taking the elite politico’s tact of never apologizing and simply ignoring the backlash. After all, they firmly believe that the rank and file voters have short memories and all will be forgotten and forgiven when the next election rolls around.

Marsha has two very short years during which the effects of Biden’s massive expansion of every stripe of immigration (think Southern border caravans of thousands) will effect the safety of all Americans along with the drive-down of wages for the lower skilled American workers.

Marsha would do well to understand that when her RINO buddies in the Senate go along with the bipartisan amnesty plan, it won’t even matter if she speaks or votes against it. She bears responsibility for enshrining Biden as President because she abdicated and certified false election results.

Conservatives never liked Hagerty anyway and his turn will come soon enough. And the next time he runs, he won’t have President Trump to help pave his way into office.

It’s pretty predictable that Marsha and Hagerty will gravitate to the Lamar-Haslam-Corker side of the party since they will need every RINO vote available to fill the gap left by non-voting Conservatives.

Here’s the Resolution of Censure passed by Henry County in case anyone wants to take it to their county GOP:

Hagerty & Blackburn Were Against Election Fraud Before They Certified It

Six days after Tennessee’s two Senators voted to certify the electoral college votes, One America News questioned why the Democrats were being allowed to divert attention away from the “mounting” evidence of election fraud, including a number of the easiest to question:

Pennsylvania – 205,000 over-votes (meaning more votes than registered voters); 682,000 votes illegally processed due to lack of oversight.

Georgia – 66,248 underage voters; 10,315 dead people voted; 2,560 convicted felons voted; 4,502 unregistered voters voted.

Arizona – 36,400 non-citizens voted.

These and many more election irregularities such as those related to absentee ballots are catalogued in the three-part Navarro report which concludes that “[t]here was no single ‘silver bullet’ that allegedly won the election for Biden; instead it was ‘death by a thousand irregularities’ in any given battleground state; and, most importantly with respect to the question as to whether the election may well have been stolen, the narrow alleged Biden ‘victory’ margins in each of the six battleground states were dwarfed by the number of potentially illegal ballots.”

On January 2, four days before the electoral college votes reached Congress, Hagerty and Blackburn surprised Tennesseans with a strong, forthright commitment to object to certifying the electoral vote:

Tennesseans elected us as their United States Senators to represent their views and values in Washington and to always fight for them, which is why we have concluded without any reservation that we will stand against tainted electoral results from the recent Presidential election. We know that our elections, built around the Electoral College which is a fundamental element, are the envy of the world. Protecting their integrity and ensuring the results are free and fair are critical to maintaining the trust of our own citizens. Since November 3, hardworking men and women from across Tennessee have contacted us to justifiably express anger and concern that some states conducted the recent election in a manner that did not respect the rule of law and may have violated many of their state constitutions as well as Article II of the U.S. Constitution. Many are concerned about the sanctity of the one person one vote guarantee. Our founders understood that it is ultimately the peoples job to preserve the sanctity of these most fundamental American systems, and so they charged the peoples representatives in Congress with a specific role in the process. We plan to exercise that role fully in the new Congress.” — Senator Marsha Blackburn and Senator-elect Bill Hagerty

Big bold words which Hagerty and Blackburn ditched after the Antifa riot as if somehow it justified their back-pedaling. The feckless and insincere Benedict Arnolds reversed course, voted to certify what they previously claimed were “tainted electoral results” and hand the country over to the tyranny of a Biden-Harris-Pelosi-Schumer administration.

Unlike the intelligent and principled Sen. Josh Hawley from Missouri, Hagerty and Blackburn showed how little respect they have for legal voters in Tennessee – including the ones who have given them the privilege of serving in the U.S. Senate. They’ve shown Tennesseans how quickly and easily they will concede and have yet to explain how or why they now believe that election fraud is acceptable.

Even if one believes that the responsibility to address the electoral shenanigans rests with state legislatures, members of Congress have the statutory option and the representative duty, to question, debate, and if necessary, object to electoral outcomes.

Once the Capitol was secured and the electoral vote count resumed, Hawley continued explaining his objection to Pennsylvania and the “unprecedented interference of the Big Tech corporations in this election in favor of the Biden campaign, not just in Pennsylvania but everywhere.” Hawley’s wife and child had been threatened in their home by protestors the night before Congress’ counting of the electoral votes. Hawley refused to be intimidated either by the harassment of his family or the pathetic “riot” at the Capitol – he moved forward offering making his statement of objection because he refuses to “bow to a lawless mob.”

In stark but sadly, predictable contrast, Hagerty and Blackburn put their own political careers ahead of their oath of office. They put their own self-interests ahead of their representative duties. They fled from upholding the Constitution.

Hagerty used President Trump’s endorsement to fool the uninformed voter and when the going got tough on January 6th, Hagerty showed Tennesseans that he is neither loyal to the one that brung him to the dance and that he is sufficiently arrogant to take voters for granted.

Blackburn’s betrayal is the best evidence that she has been in D.C. waaaaaay too long!

Both have impugned their credibility and indelibly proved they can’t be trusted – as if they ever could. It remains to be seen whether Hagerty’s new fixer-smoother-over Jim Henry, a long-standing Republican political insider, can gloss over the fact that Hagerty has always been an Establishment RINO.

Let’s see how creatively Hagerty and Blackburn explain selling-out Republicans in Tennessee – that is, if they ever bother to explain themselves. It also remains to be seen the effect these sell-outs have on the Tennessee GOP.

Hagerty’s Bad Deals For Taxpayers Are Good For His Big Dollar Cronies

Who does Bill Hagerty put first – the average Tennessee taxpayer or his big dollar cronies?

Two examples immediately come to mind – TNInvestco and the Nashville Soccer stadium.

The failed TNInvestco initiative was launched in 2009, by the Bredesen administration. The plan was intended to spur the growth of start-up companies and with it, jobs. A deal was cut with private insurance companies where the state would “sell” $200 million dollars in future tax credits for $150 million dollars cash. Then ten firms managing venture capital funds, were selected by the state to invest the cash in start-up companies. The ten firms were allocated $20 million dollars in management fees regardless of whether the public money they invested, were successful in achieving the program’s objectives.

Hagerty was a partner in the venture capital investment firm, Tennessee Community Ventures Fund (TCVF) which was one of ten selected by the state to gamble with Tennessee taxpayer money with most of the risk shouldered by the taxpayer.

Six years into the program, Tennessee’s Comptroller calculated that only $5.3 million was recovered on the State’s investment which was a measly 2.6% return on the initial investment.

Regardless, firms like Hagerty’s got their money.

The more recent Nashville soccer stadium never was and still isn’t a good deal for taxpayers. But if billionaire John Ingram and multi-millionaire Bill Hagerty want it, well it’s going to happen even if the city can’t afford it and even if “[s]ports stadiums are notoriously bad deals for taxpayers.”

TNInvestco was launched by the Phil Bredesen administration. The soccer stadium was former Nashville mayor Megan Barry’s $250 million dollar plan. Democrats freely spending other people’s money.

Bill Hagerty had his hand in both.

Nashville billionaire Ingram, lead owner of the soccer team, wanted this so badly that he offered to put up some of the money, letting taxpayers eat the rest. His crony-loving buddy Hagerty organized the Major League Soccer (MLS) Steering Committee to bring the deal to the table. It was a deal which included $250 million dollars in public financing and a gift of 10 acres of land to get the team and the new stadium. According to one source, the land was undervalued in the deal when in actuality it was worth twice the amount to the tune of $20 million dollars.

The Nashville-based Beacon Center explained that the soccer stadium deal was a bad deal for taxpayers. And another sports-insider publication reported that taxpayers were “already on the hook for $300 million in upgrades to Nissan Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans.”

To sweeten the deal for the Metro Council who would have to approve the deal, Hagerty turned to Sen. Steve Dickerson who calls himself “the different Republican” (aka, super RINO), to carry legislation which would help get Hagerty’s deal approved.

“Dickerson said the two discussed plans to push for the legislation as they watched their sons compete in the same youth soccer match.” Dickerson sees soccer as becoming popular “among his own children [who attend an exclusive private school] and many others in the Middle Tennessee areas as well as Nashville’s budding immigrant community.”

Hagerty’s business partner and long-time crony Will Alexander (son of Lamar), was the co-organizer of the MLS Steering Committee. Will recently left the private investment firm he joined with Hagerty, to be the MLS’ team chief revenue officer.

Right after Hagerty was appointed Commissioner of TN ECD, he promoted Alexander to chief of staff.

See the pattern? Rich cronies help each other to become richer using working folks’ money.

John Ingram gave the maximum donation of $5,600 to Hagerty’s Senate campaign.

Sethi Is the Delete Button on the Lamar-Haslam Machine

Tennessee lives matter!!! Liberate Tennessee Conservatives!!!

For too long, Tennessee’s ruling political class has been inbred to the Lamar-Haslam circle of establishment elitists.

When Dr. Manny says he’s an “outsider” the Lamar-Haslam GOP agrees – he is not one of them.

They didn’t pick him or groom him to inherit Lamar’s seat. Only a hand-picked Establishment Republican can have it.

They didn’t support candidate Trump in the primary, nor did their hand-picked marionette.

Hagerty was still supporting Marco Rubio in the primary until March 2016 when Rubio dropped out of the race. And before Rubio, he supported Jeb!

Hagerty didn’t support Trump until after Trump won the nomination.

Dr. Manny supported Trump in the primary with a $10,000 donation to the Tennessee Republican Party’s federal election account. Dr. Manny’s campaign said the donation was to support candidate Trump.

Hagerty moved from one uber-Establishment candidate to another. Neither Jeb! nor Rubio had any credible conservative credentials. In fact, Rubio had already proven himself to be soft on illegal immigration, an issue of great concern for Tennessee conservatives.

Lamar and Haslam were also soft on illegal immigration.

Lamar voted for Rubio’s 2013, “Gang of Eight” amnesty immigration bill. Opposing a Trump Executive Order on illegal immigration, Lamar said he wanted a “bipartisan immigration solution [which among other things, provides a status [ie, amnesty], for those already here.”

Haslam pushed for in-state tuition for illegal aliens and refused to sign the strengthened anti-sanctuary city bill which helps protect Tennessee citizens from illegal aliens who commit crimes in the state.

Dr. Manny hasn’t revealed who from the Tennessee Establishment empire told him to stand down and not to run for Lamar’s seat. Would anyone be surprised if the order had been issued by “the Machine”????? These good ole’ boys are used to getting their way and Dr. Manny is upsetting their plan to continue running “the Machine” even after they leave office.

Dr. Manny is the best chance to break the Establishment headlock on Tennessee conservatives.

At Best, Hagerty is a Haslam Type of “Conservative”

Bill Haslam told voters he was a conservative during his campaign for governor in 2010.

Now he’s fundraising for and donating to Bill Hagerty who also calls himself a conservative.

Bill Haslam fundraiser for Hagerty

Haslam claimed in his campaign materials that he was a “lifelong conservative” and Hagerty is using the same pitch.

But during Haslam’s two terms as governor, he showed voters that he was a different kind of conservative. Haslam was the type of conservative who pushed for Medicaid expansion which he called “Insure Tennessee”, begged state legislators to give in-state tuition to illegal alien students, insisted on retaining Common Core, refused to assert Tennessee’s 10th Amendment rights against the federal refugee resettlement program, and refused to put his name on a strong anti-sanctuary city bill which passed with overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate.

(The anti-sanctuary bill subsequently became law without Haslam’s signature and the legislature left Haslam behind when they figured out how to get the 10th Amendment lawsuit filed without him.)

In fact, Haslam was so committed to Common Core, that with support from the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce, he and Lamar brought Jeb! in to lecture Tennesseans about the value of the Obama education curriculum.

Haslam, Lamar & Jeb! push Common Core

Haslam, Lamar and Jeb! – all Establishment buddies of Hagerty – a group of elite country-clubbers who promote themselves as conservatives.

Don’t forget, Jeb! was Hagerty’s first choice for president; Trump was Hagerty’s third choice and only when it was clear he would be the nominee.

Haslam brought Establishment cronies Hagerty and La Raza Randy Boyd into the Tennessee state government as Commissioners of Economic & Community Development (ECD).

Shortly after taking office, Hagerty promoted Lamar’s son Will Alexander to Chief of Staff of ECD; several years later Hagerty and Will Alexander were in business together. Hargerty also brought in Alice Rolli who had worked for Lamar in D.C. It wasn’t long before Alice left ECD to manage Lamar’s re-election campaign.

Shortly before leaving ECD in 2015, Hagerty hired Lamar’s daughter Leslee. At that time he also hired the daughter of TDOT Commissioner Jim Schroer who had previously interned for Bob Corker.

Hagerty’s successor, La Raza Randy, is a named member of the New American Economy group; globalists who want more immigration, legal and illegal. They support giving illegal aliens some type of legal status because they do the jobs Americans won’t do. They also support providing in-state tuition for illegal alien students. Boyd was a supporter on the in-state tuition issue in Tennessee.

Hagerty’s first choice for President, Jeb! showed up in Tennessee to headline a fundraiser for La Raza Randy. See how they all belong to the same group?

Haslam chose Hagerty and La Raza Randy because they are his cronies and his political running buddies. Their political positions are virtually indistinguishable from one another.

The three are cozy kissin’ cousins when it comes to trying to keep Establishment Republicans in control.

While Bill Hagerty was out raising money for Romney in 2012, Bill Haslam served as the State Chairman for Romney’s campaign. The slate of Tennessee delegates for Romney included Hagerty’s mother Ruth, his wife Chrissy, and Randy Boyd.

Bill & Chrissy Haslam with Romney

Hagerty can talk about baling hay and shoveling asphalt in his growing up years. Running for his buddy Lamar’s seat has him shoveling up something else. He wants voters to believe he’s a conservative Republican – same thing Bill Haslam filled the trough with during his campaign.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Marsha Blackburn Gets on the Hagpocrisy Team!

Is anyone really surprised that Marsha is supporting Hagerty? Looks she had to make good on her political IOUs to McConnell and Ward Baker who ran her campaign.

Any surprise that she put her Senate political ambition over her promise to voters?

In September 2019, with regard to the race between Hagerty and Dr. Manny, Marsha, using the royal “we”, Marsha said :

“We will stay out of the primary and let the voters have their say and looking forward to supporting the Republican who’s going to be the next U.S. Senator from Tennessee.”

Fast forward to July 22, 2020, and Marsha suddenly recalls that she still hasn’t gotten over some perceived slight from some individuals associated with Dr. Manny which she claimed happened during her 2018 campaign for Senate.

Marsha needs to put on her big girl panties. That’s about as petty and attenuated as Hagerty’s attack on Dr. Manny over a $50 donation.

Marsha a loooooong running politician careerist during which she has practiced calling herself a “conservative,” an umbrella label under which she is trying to give Hagerty shelter. The reality is that no umbrella is big enough to obstruct Hagerty’s Establishment bona fides. (What Tennessee’s Conservative Base Knows About Bill Hagerty).

Don’t be misled by Marsha’s fluid definition of conservativism. In 2007, she joined Mitt Romney’s campaign as a senior advisor. She’s not always been on the right side of things or even on President Trump’s side of things.

Or on the right side of things for conservative Tennesseeans. And her late-in-the-game support for what appears to be an increasingly desperate Hagerty, is not the first time she’s thrown her constituents under the bus.

It wasn’t that long ago that she co-sponsored a bill, S.2641, which as originally written, mandated a fast track for Syrians, Iraqis and Kurds to be brought to the U.S. if they claim they were in some way connected, however loosely or remotely, to America’s fight against ISIS. Even after the bill was amended to cap the annual number to 400 for these groups, this limit didn’t apply to the President’s annual admission cap, running counter to a key Trump administration goal.

In fact, on this issue, she was more in line with Bill Lee than her President.

Once again Marsha turns her back on her constituents and reneges on her promise to let the voters decide who they want for their next U.S. Senator. These are the same voters who Marsha begged and Ward Baker helped strong-arm into letting Marsha fill the vacated Corker seat.

Marsha needs to remember that voters have long memories and if not, she will be reminded of her arrogance and double-dealing in the Hagerty-Sethi race. If she runs again, expect that she will have to answer to her Hagpocrisy and the big gigantic dent it has put in her credibility.

31,000 Illegal Aliens Working & Homesteading Under the Protection of Nashville Government

The Community Oversight Board (COB), a funded arm of the Metro Nashville government says there are 31,000 illegal aliens living and working in Davidson County.

A 2019 ranking by Pew puts the Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin area as 50th out of 182 of the nation’s metro areas with the highest number of illegal aliens which of course, they incorrectly label “unauthorized immigrants.

The COB run by anti-police-pro-open-borders special interest groups, hasn’t let the COVID pandemic slow their efforts to use the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) to obstruct Tennessee’s sanctuary city law and keep illegal aliens from being found by ICE.

The COB is made up of 11 special interest “volunteers” supported by a Metro employee staff of 9 with a guaranteed annual budget of $1.5 million dollars. So of course Nashville’s Mayor must have his 32% property tax increase and state grant dollars to keep this special interest engine running.

In mid April the COB issued a report titled Policy Advisory Report Examining Local Law Enforcement Policies and Immigration Enforcement Actions.

The core agenda of groups like TIRRC and Conexion Americas is now institutionalized in the Metro government and because Nashville gets a lion’s share of state dollars, for example, in education funds for English Language Learners and economic and community development grants, the COB’s agenda is being funded by all Tennesseans, not just those who live in Davidson County.

Not surprisingly, the COB report was requested by Andres Martinez, the vice-chair of the COB. He also happens to be the Director of Policy and Communications for Conexion Americas, a Nashville organization and affiliate of the National Council of La Raza. This is the organization that gubernatorial candidate La Raza Randy Boyd funded with a quarter of a million dollars. For this and other reasons, thank goodness he didn’t win.

(As an aside, it’s worth remembering that La Raza Randy who was practically tied at the hip to Jeb!, Bill Hagerty was also a Jeb! aficionado serving as a Jeb! delegate in 2016. And after Jeb! withdrew, Hagerty flipped to Marco Rubio. So in fact, Trump was Hagerty’s last choice.)

A deep dive into the COB report shows that they are pushing for the MNPD to adopt four policies that will help illegal aliens in Nashville go undetected and to ignore the state’s sanctuary city law:

    • The MNPD should create and implement policies and formal training on what types of U.S. issued and foreign issued identification will be accepted in order to issue misdemeanor citations rather than take individuals into physical custody.
    • The MNPD should create and implement policies that discourage police officers from asking about immigration or citizenship status. If an officer does ask about immigration status or citizenship status, they should be required to document that they asked and provide a justification for the question in their report narratives.
    • The MNPD should create and implement training on the difference between administrative and judicial warrants and what ICE can and cannot do while conducting immigration enforcement in public vs. REP (Reasonable Expectation of Privacy) areas.
    • The Department of Emergency Communications and the Metro Nashville Police Department should document and track instances of federal immigration enforcement officials calling for MNPD or first responder assistance during their enforcement actions in Davidson County.

Equally concerning about the COB report is the glowing reference to a resolution adopted by the Austin City Council after Texas passed a very strong sanctuary city law which was subsequently ruled as Constitutional by a federal appeals court. The Austin City Council resolution was specifically intended to obstruct and skirt the state’s law.

Nashville Mayor’s Immigration Task Force is also recommending that the Metro Council adopt the Austin City Council resolution. If that happens, expect to see the same in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis.

Any chance the Governor’s office has any clue what’s going on in Metro? Didn’t Bill Lee campaign as a hawk on illegal immigration? Didn’t he criticize Haslam for not signing the sanctuary city bill and said that if he were governor he would have signed it?

Many thought he actually meant what he said just like when he said he supported the state’s Tenth Amendment lawsuit on refugee resettlement. Right.

The U.S. Supreme Court just issued a unanimous decision upholding the federal anti-harboring law that bars people from actively encouraging illegal immigrants to remain inside the country. Sounds like it would include actions being considered by the Metro Council and the COB on top of Tennessee’s sanctuary city law.

Between 2015 and 2020, the state has given Metro Nashville $99,581,919 in fast track economic development grants. In 2017 and 2018, the state rewarded the out-of-control and irresponsible spending and illegal-alien-protectionist government in Davidson County with over $28 million dollars to recruit Philips North America and Alliance Bernstein.

Where and when does this stop?????

In November 2019, Tennessee’s State Comptroller rejected Nashville’s budget and issued a warning that if the county didn’t fix it’s financial mess, the state would take it over. The fix proposed by Mayor Cooper is a 32% property tax increase without any cuts of course to the COB $1.5 million dollar budget.

Feel free to let your state legislators and the Governor’s office know what’s going on in Metro Nashville – they need to put a stop to it before the radical blue island takes the whole state down.
