The TN Muslim Advisory Council Organized to Protect Political Islam From an Anti-Terrorism Bill

Objectively analyzed and sourced from the Koran, Hadith and Sira, The Center for the Study of Political Islam International (CSPII) notes that jihad is a “major part of Islamic doctrine”, “a crucial part of Political Islam” and is targeted to “strive against kafirs (non-Muslims).” https://www.cspii.org/methodology/research-reports/jihad/

Additionally, CSPII notes that there at least five forms of jihad, including “violent jihad.”

The dictates of political Islam are found in Islamic Sharia law a legal code based on three texts—the Koran, Sira (the life of Mohammed) and Hadith (the traditions of Mohammed). As summarized by CSPII, “[t]he vision of jihad is found in the Koran, the strategy is found in the Sira and the tactics are

found in the Hadith. The entire doctrine found in the Trilogy of Koran, Sira and Hadith is codified in the Sharia law.”

Political Islam, is easily understood as the parts Islam directed outward to the kafir which is expressed in a variety and in ever expanding ways. An example of non-violent jihad was the dismissal of a university art professor who showed an image of a 14th century painting of Mohammed. Her contract was not renewed because of the offense experienced by Muslim students. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/art-professor-sues-firing-showing-prophet-muhammad-images-rcna66250

Consider also the emerging pattern of publicly funded schools and universities complying with demands for halal food offerings which is much more advanced in Europe. The UK MEND organization (Muslim Development and Engagement) promotes halal in schools as a means to “nurtur[e] Muslim identities in schools”.

Then there is the other kind of jihad – the violent type.

Memphis native Carlos Bledsoe, aka, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad and jihad

An example of political Islam’s “violent jihad” backdrop to Tennessee’s 2011 anti-terrorism legislation, was the 2009, self-described jihad terrorism at the Little Rock Arkansas Army recruiting center committed by Memphis native Carlos Bledsoe, aka, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad.

And the connection between Bledsoe’s jihad and the Tennessee Muslim Advisory Council? Short answer –  a naieve and weak-kneed governor bought a contrived sob story about an anti-terrorism bill alleged to have made following Islamic sharia law, a felony. Haslam fell for all of it and then did whatever he could to appease and validate the fiction this grouop continues to perpetuate.

How valid is this advisory council if it was founded on highly questionable grounds? Good question for Tennessee’s next governor. It’s a pretty good bet that the Syrian and Iraqi refugees that Marsha wanted to import in unlimited numbers, would want an Islamic advocacy group.

As you read about what happened under governor Bill Haslam’s leadership, consider that a Marsha Blackburn administration would likely have produced the same result.

Using a smear campaign about the 2011, anti-terrorism bill, a group calling themselves the TN American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) organized that same year. They were abetted in secret behind closed doors with the support and assistance from Governor Haslam’s Dept. of Safety and Homeland Security. Indeed, it was heralded and congratulated by its then Director failed gubernatorial candidate, Bill Gibbons.

In short order the arrangement evolved into a partnership between AMAC and the state’s Office of Homeland Security. While AMAC lobbied against the anti-terrorism legislation they were also training law enforcement and safety personnel. At the same time, four of the sitting AMAC members formed another organization for the specific purpose of lobbying at the capitol.

While rallying against the anti-terrorism bill, the director of AMAC’s lobbying organization brought in Hamas-linked CAIR to assist in their efforts.

No matter that three years prior to CAIR’s first (but not last) involvement in Tennessee politics, CAIR failed to have its unindicted co-conspirator status in the Holy Land Foundation case removed. CAIR was named based on evidence of its ties to Hamas, a U.S. designated foreign terrorist organization. Presiding federal judge Solis confirmed CAIR’s unindicted co-conspirator status and ruled that the government had introduced extensive evidence tying CAIR to Hamas.

Metro Council member Zulfat Suara served as AMAC’s leader from shortly after they organized until 2019, when she ran for her first Metro Council term. Sabina Mohyuddin, a founding and sustaining member of AMAC who lobbied against the anti-terrorism bill, took over the leadership after Suara; Mohyuddin currently carries the title of Executive Director while Suara served as Treasurer, only recently leaving the AMAC board.

Mohyuddin loves to repeat the patently inaccurate characerization of the 2011 anti-terrorism legislation as the “anti-sharia” bill. Never mind that the legislation at the center of this story specifically stated that it did not apply to the peaceful practice of any religion. The written legislative findings also made clear that the sole target was political Islam and not the protected religious worship of Islam. Still not good enough for the Islamists. Could it be because of that thing they call jihad? Or is it sharia law? Or is it political Islam? Or is it all three?

If she read the bill and didn’t understand it or didn’t read it but misrepresents it anyway, either way, it puts her credibility and her organization on very shaky ground.

What they created around the anti-terrorism bill has been one of AMAC and Sabina Mohyuddin’s favorite tactics to support their objectives grounded in political Islam.

Why the 2011 anti-terrorism legislation?

After 9/11, most states, including Tennessee, passed anti-terrorism laws to ensure that cases by-passed by the federal government could be prosecuted in state courts. For example, the Oklahoma City bombing relied on a state statute for punishment. A New York case involving two men who purchased hand grenades and other weaponry planning to blow up a large Manhattan synagogue, were arrested and charged by the FBI but were prosecuted by the state under its anti-terrorism statute.

The Little Rock Arkansas jihad terrorism case, the backdrop of the 2011 Tennessee legislation, was prosecuted by the state of Arkansas, not by the federal authorities.

With documented incidences of homegrown terrorism occurring betwen 2001 – 2011, there was legitimate concern that there was no lawful mechanism that would enable state and local law enforcement to intervene before acts of terrorism were committed by being able to reach those who plan, finance and also help others who commit acts of terrorism. So Tennessee put together a bill modeled after federal legislation that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld as constitutionally sound.

Against national news of terrorist acts, in 2009, the newly minted convert Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, aka, Memphis native Carlos Bledsoe, committed his own self-described jihad terrorist attack:

“By his own account, he was preparing for jihad.”

“Muhammad [Bledsoe name change after conversion], said he’d have killed more soldiers had more been in the parking lot. He told the detective he wasn’t guilty of murder, that the shooting was an act of jihad. Muhammad also told police there were at least six Molotov cocktails in a milk crate in the bed of his truck – green and clear bottles filled with gasoline and oil and duct taped.”

“And compared to what I had planned originally it was like a grain of sand,” Muhammad wrote about the attack. “One crusader dead, one wounded, 15 terrorized, big deal. Nidal Malik (Hasan, the accused Fort Hood shooter) is the real Islamic warrior, and my plan A was on that scale.”

“I knew this would end with the enemies of Allah killing me. But the good thing is – Martyrs don’t die! Allah says, “Don’t think of those who are killed for the sake of Allah as dead. Rather they are alive with their Lord and they have their provision!” (Qur’an 3:169) And that’s what I believe. The jihad lives on. May Allah accept my jihadi operations and grant me what he promises all of the … (martyrs) Ameen.”

Despite specific language in the 2011 bill protecting and exempting “the peaceful practice of any religion and in particularly the practice of Islam”, Mohyuddin and her fellow travellers, abetted by a highly compromised Tennessean reporter, launched a smear campaign claiming that the bill was an attempt to punish the practice of Islamic sharia law.

Mohyuddin went so far as to insinuate that the legislation would make practicing Islam a felony.

What the codified Tennessee law actually says is that it is a felony for anyone to knowingly help a designated entity with money, advice or any other aid. It also retained the language protecting the peaceful practice of any religion.

But cowardly leadership amended the critical state’s Attorney General designation authority out of the 2011 anti-terrorism bill; this would have enabled the AG to designate entities committed to carrying out terrorist acts in the state that threaten the security and safety of Tennesseans.

Fast forward to recent news from Florida. Where Tennessee’s cowardly leadership failed, Florida and Texas took action grounded in facts and documented reality.

Last week, Governor DeSantis used Florida’s terrorism designation law to designate CAIR and Antifa as domestic terror groups. On July 7, 2026, CAIR lost again when a federal judge denied their motion to stop being designated as a terrorist organization in Florida.

In addition to evidence produced in the Holy Land Foundation trial tying CAIR to Hamas (see above), it should not be forgotten that in 1994, CAIR’s national director Nihad Awad publicly declared his support for the Hamas terrorist organization.

AMAC’s former long-standing leader Zulfat Suara has expressed interest in serving as Davidson County’s next (most likely Mamdani style) mayor. Reading the contrived origins of her organization, it’s drift into attacking Zionism and endorsing the blatant falsehood of Israel committing genocide in Gaza, along with her support for known Jew-haters and the heinous self-described socialist Bernie Sanders https://dailyrollcall.com/metro-councilman-jacob-kupins-favs-tn-rep-aftyn-behn-metro-council-member-zulfat-suara/, it matters more than ever who Tennessee elects as its next governor.

Jihad in the U.S. including Tennessee

The U.S. House Subcommittee on Counterrorism and Intelligence just released a snapshot report titled “Foreign Jihadist Networks and Homegrown Violent Extremism: a Persistent Terror Threat to America”. https://homeland.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Updated-Terror-Threat-Snapshot-copy.pdf

The 14-page report lists selected incidents of U.S.-based jihadi attacks, foreign terrorist networks and homegrown violent extremism. The report is a thin summary of the many jihadi-inspired attacks in the U.S. over the years. More on that at a later date.

The report’s contents should not surprise anyone who has been paying attention since the jihadis have been here for a loooooong time. They have been enabled to metastasize and enlarge their circles of influence through immigration, conversion and preaching a doctrine that hates the Judeo-Christian west with the end goal of eliminating it – subjugation through acts of terror, political sharia, providing material support to jihadi groups, killing individuals with vehicles and knives – whatever it takes.

It’s perfectly reasonable to assume that at least since the 2007 successful prosecution of leaders of the Holy Land Foundation and the exposing of the Muslim Brotherhood’s presence and plan (referred to as the 1991 Memorandum for North America, linked below), our government has known about these actors and their intentions.

It does not appear, however, that our government was either consistent or persistent in taking the Brotherhood and jihadi commitment to our destruction, seriously enough.

Originally named the “Occupied Land Fund”, the Holy Land Foundation was the largest Islamic charity in the U.S. which claimed it was raising funds to bring humanitarian relief to needy Palestinians in the “occupied territories” – a claim dispelled by the prosecution of the fund’s leaders.

The 2007 prosecution by the DOJ shut down the Foundation for funding Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations.

Several of the Islamist organizations operating in the U.S. and named in the Muslim Brotherhood’s 1991 plan titled An Explanatory Memorandum On the General Strategic Goal for the Group In North Americawere named as unindicted co-conspirators for providing material support in the form of raising money to support the U.S. designated terrorist organization Hamas.

In 2009, when ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), and several other of the big Islamist organizations still in full operation today, unsuccessfully challenged their unindicted co-conspirator status, the judge held that “[t]he government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, NAIT, with NAIT, the Islamic Association for Palestine, and with Hamas.”

(As a side note, Metro Nashville Council member Zulfat Suara has been an active participant with ISNA which named her “Muslim policy advocate of the year”,speaking at their 2018 conference on a panel with her good friend and fellow Jew hater Rashida Tlaib.. That was the same year that during Suara’s leadership of AMAC, they featured virulent Jew-hating anti-Israel speakers to attack Zionism).

The point of this history lesson is to question why members of Congress like Rep. Mark Green who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee aren’t talking about the organizations operating in the U.S. which are affiliated with or otherwise connected to and supportive of Hamas?

Mark Green could perhaps start with a hearing featuring people like CAIR’s executive director Nihad Awad. The committee and viewing public could watch Awad’s 1994, unconditional statement of moving his support from one terrorist organization, the PLO, to Hamas:

I used to support the PLO, and I used to be the President of the General Union of Palestine Students which is part of the PLO here in the United States, but after I researched the situation inside Palestine and outside, I am in support of the Hamas movement more than the PLO.

https://www.investigativeproject.org/223/cairs-awad-in-support-of-the-hamas-movement

Shortly after the October 7th massacre Awad amplified his support for terrorism and Hamas.

Better yet, why not indict and move forward with prosecutions of the organizations confirmed in the 2009 court ruling based on “ample evidence” to be connected to Hamas, a U.S. designated foreign terrorist organization? (Maybe Mark Green should meet with Steve Emerson ((investigative project on terrorism)) who has one of the most detailed catalogues of this type of documentation).

Why not peel back the layers of the Israel hating BDS group like the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights which, sounding similar to the Holy Land Foundation scheme, “helps facilitate tax-exempt donations to a Palestinian coalition that includes Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and other groups the U.S. State Department designates as terror organizations.” https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/bds-umbrella-group-linked-to-palestinian-terrorist-organizations

Will the day come when Congress tires of simply compiling “reports” to tell us that jihad in the U.S. is a continuing problem and instead, take action to dismantle at least some parts of its U.S. based jihadi infrastructure? After all, the report says it is a “persistent” threat. Maybe email Mark Green and ask him what comes after the 14-page snapshot report? https://markgreen.house.gov/email-me

Islamic Jihad – the Other Tie that Binds Christians and Jews

It’s the heartless and barbaric history of Muhammad and Islam. It’s also the same present-day contemporary Islam. It’s doctrine and practice that hasn’t changed or abated in 1400+ years.

October 7th? Islamic Jihad. In more than one place the Koran describes Jews as “apes and swines”, a slur that supposedly is meant to refer to the ancient Jews who refused to convert. However, it is still used today by imams, by Jew-hating writers, on Palestinian Authority TV and most recently, in a Fatah broadcasted message two days after the terrorist attack on October 7th – “‘[s]trike the sons of apes of pigs… slaughter everyone who is Israeli’”

Add to this that in the Hadith, the examples and sayings of Muhammad, who Allah says all Muslims must emulate, Islamists learn that “[t]he Hour [end of time when Islam will rule the world] will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say”.O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him”.

The same hadith is still in vogue, included in a circular distributed by the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Religious Affairs two weeks after the October 7th massacre, to be preached in mosques. And to no surprise, the directive to kill Jews is included in Article 7 of the Hamas 1988 founding document, also referred to as the Hamas Covenant.

Five years after the founding of Hamas, Nihad Awad and Omar Ahmad met in Philadelphia with members of Hamas and then organized CAIR which in 1997, was designated as a foreign terrorist organization. Awad, who in 2014, publicly switched his support from the PLO terrorist group to supporting Hamas, has also voiced his support for the October 7th massacre of Israelis.

Nihad Awad (center in black jacket) at Murfreesboro mosque with imam Bahloul

“‘A 2023 joint publication by United Nations Watch and the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se) reported that ‘teachers and schools at the UN agency that runs education and social services for Palestinians regularly call for the murder of Jews, and create teaching materials that glorify terrorism, encourage martyrdom, demonize Israelis, and incite anti-Semitism.’”

9/11? Islamic Jihad. No explanation needed.

Islamic murder and persecution of Christians and Jews should come as no surprise; the hatred is embedded in Islamic doctrine taught to children – “O believers! Take neither Jews nor Christians as guardians—they are guardians of each other. Whoever does so will be counted as one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

The seeds of hatred are reinforced in schools and children’s programming.

In 2017, a story in the TN Star ran a story that included a promotional video for Anoor Academy, an Islamic school in Knoxville. At 1:05 of the video there is a row of textbooks titled What Islam Is All About. The TN Star piece includes excerpts from the textbook that denigrate Christians and Jews.

52,000 Christians slaughtered in Benue and other Nigerian states? Islamic Jihad.

In February 2024, Nigerian Christian clergy correctly labeled the “hack[ing] a person to death with a machete” and “…blasting unarmed villagers in the back with an AK-47 as they seek to escape a terrorist raid” – “[i]t is Islamic jihad.”

Islamic persecution of Christians worldwide is dramatically higher.

Does Nigerian Muslim Council Member Zulfat Suara have anything to say about the jihad of her fellow countrymen?

Apparently not. Nigerian born Suara did, however, find time in 2020, to organize a rally in downtown Nashville to protest “political corruption and police brutality” in Nigeria even though Nigeria’s jihadi Boko Haram was slaughtering civilians that same year in a Christmas Eve raid on a Christian village, killing people, burning down a church and abducting a priest.

Suara is now serving her second at-large council term. First elected in 2019, she was heralded as the first Nigerian to be elected to any public office in the U.S. and the first Muslim to be elected to a public office in Tennessee.

Prior to serving on the Council, she led the TN American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) since 2012. While she resigned her leadership role immediately prior to running for the Council, she remains on the AMAC board.

Under her leadership, the AMAC dove head-first into programming with leading anti-Israel agitators including Linda Sarsour, Ash-Lee Henderson and fellow AMAC member Drost Kokoye, helping to normalize antisemitism by pretending that attacking Zionism is simply about criticizing the Israeli government. It is well understood that challenging Zionism is challenging Israel’s right to exist.

As expected, given AMAC’s anti-Zionist agenda, Suara’s AMAC promoted the early pro-Hamas rallies organized by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) held in Nashville following the October 7th attack on Israeli civilians. (Suara served as one of Bernie Sanders’ state campaign chairs. It should also be noted that at this time Suara had already connected with Bernie’s antisemite surrogate Linda Sarsour and Jew-hating Rashda Tlaib who along with super Jew-hater Ilhan Omar were all supporting Bernie).

One of the earliest DSA organized rallies included signs with swastikas and the “river to the sea” chanting which calls for the elimination of Jews and the Jewish homelandWhile Israelis were still reeling from the October 7th unprovoked jihadi barbarism of mutilating women, cutting a fetus from a mother still alive and then killing the baby in front of her, decapitating and shooting people of all ages including children, all documented with photographs and video from the cameras of captured Hamas and civilian Palestinians who joined the massacre, AMAC was making sure that Jew haters in Nashville were informed about their protest rights.

WARNING – videos 2 & 3 contain extremely upsetting and graphic information

I

In keeping with its self-described victim status upon which AMAC was founded, they quickly advised schools to watch out for bullying or any form of discrimination against Muslim and Arab students.

According to the TN Star, Suara has refused to condemn Hamas and apparently has made no mention of the hostages including baby Kfir.

It doesn’t appear that Suara who is involved in a slew of WOMEN identified groups including the Tennessee Women’s March, a leadership role in the National Women’s Political Caucus and is an inductee to the Women’s Hall of Fame, has spoken out about the sexual violence and extreme brutality against women during the October 7th massacre. The virtually indescribable savagery of the terrorists has been well documented.

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAr9oGSXgak

Barely a month after the slaughter in Israel, AMAC was promoting a “ceasefire now peace rally” to tell Congress to “stop funding and supporting genocide” and another rally encouraging the wearing of the keffiyah, a symbol of Jew hatred which Palestinian cowards use to cover their faces while they attack Jews overseas and here in the U.S.

More recently, Suara was the prime Metro Council sponsor of a ceasefire resolution promoted by the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR), an organization whose focus is to turn Americans against Israel. The USCPR also has troubling ties to Tennessee.

Suara’s ceasefire resolution

Suara’s ceasefire resolution includes a healthy dose of Hamas-inspired propaganda including the reference to and use of the Gaza Health Ministry (GHM) alleged death toll of women and children even though the numbers have come under scrutiny. Even the U.S. House through a bipartisan amendment is trying to block the State Department from using the Gaza Health Ministry data. The amendment passed with 62 Democrats voting yes. No action yet in the U.S. Senate.

Suara’s resolution repeatedly attempts to draw a nation state equivalency between Israel and “Palestine”. While Israel has been a State recognized by the U.S. government since 1948, there has never been a “State of Palestine” nor does one exit in present day. The region referred to as Palestine preceding the declaration of the State of Israel was a British run mandate which was established following World War I.

Just as Suara has refused to condemn Hamas, neither does her resolution, despite the fact that Hamas has vowed to repeat October 7th over and over again until all Jews are dead and Israel destroyed. Instead, Suara validates Hamas by citing it’s U.S. counterpart CAIR’s allegations of Islamophobia. FBI statistics consistently show hate crimes against Jews dwarf anti-Muslim activity.

Suara’s resolution fails to mention that Hamas is a U.S. designated foreign terrorist organization and that video has documented Arab civilians killing alongside the uniform-clad Hamas terrorists.

Anti-Israel bias drips from the resolution characterizing Israel as “retaliat[ing] for these attacks by bombing Gaza” when in fact, Israel has been clear from the start that the goal was to rescue the hostages and eliminate the Hamas terrorist entity – not, to take revenge on the civilians in Gaza even though polls show that sadly, Hamas has wide support from the people.

And if the bias and lack of credibility of Suara’s resolution wasn’t enough to have it tossed, it’s direct tie to the anti-Zionist, Jew-hating U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) may have caused it to be withdrawn. The USCPR was formerly known as the U.S. Campaign to End the Occupation.

Author and social media influencer Alyssa Rosenheck exposed the fact that Suara’s resolution was “a template taken from the USCPR website, a group funneling tax-exempt donations to Palestinian organizations, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other U.S.-designated terrorist groups.

Suggested Viewing & Reading: Watch my previous reel and read Tablet’s article, “BDS Umbrella Group Linked to Palestinian Terrorist Organizations.” StandWithUs.com also has a great fact sheet exposing USCPR.”

The USCPR promotes a significant part of its anti-Israel agenda in the municipal arena including action involving the local governing body. Hamas’ October 7th attack on Israel has been factually perverted by the USCPR into a “stop the genocide ceasefire now” campaign complete with a toolkit to run the false narrative campaign through city council resolutions.

Just like the one that Suara sponsored.

USCPR’s connections to Tennessee

In 2014, former Jerusalem Fund (JF) director Yousef Munayyer left to run the USCPR.

Samar Ali’s father Subhi Ali has served on the JF board since 2000, and has led as the JF chairman since 2005. Samar serves as Suara’s campaign treasurer.

From its founding the JF was opposed to the creation of the State of Israel. As early as 2003, the JF was labeling Israel an apartheid state guilty of ethnic cleansing (of Palestinians) spreading one of the many lies told by political propagandists seeking to delegitimize and target the Jewish homeland.

Munayyer was also very public in his anti-Israel pro-BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) advocacy.

Subhi Ali helped intensify the attacks on Israel with help from Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS movement and with speakers like “Israeli-Arab Knesset member, Haneen Zoabi who compared Israel to Germany in the 1930s, claimed Israel has no right to exist as a Jewish state and suggested that Israeli-Arab members of the Knesset should work to undermine the State of Israel from within.”

The current JF director Ahmad Abuznaid has elevated and expanded the propagandist attack on Israel through his connections with the Movement 4 Black Lives (M4BL) and Black Lives Matter.  Abuznaid, co-founder of a group called “Dream Defenders” has been running trips for BLMers to help them solidify their extreme antisemitism. He also helped draft the M4BL anti-Israel policy platform with Suara’s Tennessee-bred anti-Israel basher Ash-Lee Henderson.

Ash-Lee Henderson & Abuznaid

The M4BL is responsible for a policy platform which asserts that Israel is an apartheid state, is “complicit in the genocide taking place against the Palestinian people”, that homes of Palestinians and land “are routinely bulldozed to make way for illegal Israeli settlements”,  and that “Israeli soldiers also regularly arrest and detain Palestinians as young as 4 years old without due process. Everyday, Palestinians are forced to walk through military checkpoints along the US funded apartheid wall.”

The carry-over from Abuznaid’s learn-to-hate-the-Jew trips, is to spread this hostility into U.S. churches. He has been somewhat successful pushing the Marxist intersectional Black-Palestinian Solidarity agenda with the more left-leaning Methodists and their Federation for Social Action. (BTW, when you open this link you will see TN Rep. Justin Jones’ buddy William Barber all in with this stuff).

Under Suara’s leadership of AMAC Ash-Lee Henderson was a featured speaker to attack Zionism. Henderson  has also teamed up with Abuznaid to help normalize this newest form of antisemitism.

Zulfat’s campaign treasurer Samar Ali, daughter of Jerusalem Fund chairman says she’s worried about Christians in Gaza

Before Suara’s ceasefire resolution was withdrawn, she attempted to defend it on a public Metro Council discussion board. During the discussion, Suara wrote – “An interesting add was from my friend Samar who suggested that the resolution should mention Palestinian Christians whose voices are sometimes forgotten in this conflict.”

If Suara wants to credibly bring up Palestinian Christians then she must acknowledge the work of Rev. Naim Ateek, Sabeel, and Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA).

Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center (Sabeel), founded by Ateek in 1990, is a Palestinian Christian organization based in Jerusalem which opposes Christian Zionism, pushes anti-Israel advocacy in churches and promotes the BDS movement among other anti-Israel campaigns.

Ateek helped formulate “Palestinian liberation theology” and described Hamas as “an Islamic liberation theology movement.” In other words, Palestinian victims must be liberated from the Israeli oppressor under which they are forced to exist. No different than Suara, Sabeel does not waste its time on the persecution of Christians living in Muslim majority countries, Muslim radicalism, or the terrorism, suicide-bombings and rocket attacks perpetrated by Hamas against Jewish civilians.

FOSNA carries Sable’s anti-Israel work into U.S. churches to turn them against Israel. Currently, the extreme Jew-hating FOSNA is spreading disinformation regarding the atrocities of the October 7th. Denying the deep doctrinal roots of Islamic jihad, FOSNA believes that if Hamas were just welcomed into the political process, then Hamas would “moderate” its position and peace would be achieved. In 2013, FOSNA was added to the Anti-Defamation League’s top ten list of anti-Israel organizations in the U.S.

To no surprise, Suara’s promoted anti-Israel event speaker Ash-Lee Henderson has also been a speaker for FOSNA.

Rather than the biased and false narrative resolution sponsored by Suara, the Metro Nashville Council would benefit from education acknowledging that Islamic jihad is the source of death and persecution for both Jews and Christians. Nashville leaders of good conscience should take the next step and publicly acknowledge that this current day doctrine is responsible for October 7th and the continuing massacre of African Christians.
