“Women’s Movement” Leader Islamist Linda Sarsour is a Fraud.

  A Good Muslim believes Allah is the creator of all things and Muhammad is the prophet, who was the perfect man. A good Muslim follows in the footsteps of his life, obeying only the laws created by Allah. Linda Sarsour is a good Muslim. Linda Sarsour is also the face of the “women’s movement” here in the U.S.,commanding a presence with her colorful hijabs, and a loud, focused voice.

For masses of ewes, (yes sheep)  she is their idol, she can do no wrong, and with her fierceness, she must be right in all that she says. What the ewes are missing, is she is a farce, a fake, a fraud. You see, in Islam everything she publicly supports is haram, or not permissible in Islam. A good Muslim does that though, it’s called Taqiyya, or the art of deception. Gain all the sympathy and support of non Muslims you can, and they will embrace you, and turn against anyone speaking out against the ideology..Islam.

SO what is deceitful about her fight for women rights?  According to the classic book of Islamic Law called the Reliance of the Traveller. the Koran, and the Hadiths, everything she says is. One of the most atrocious, and  barbaric practices in Islam is Female Genital Mutilation(FGM), yet, Sarsour, who could be a proponent against it, instead dams those that speak out against it. 

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Muslim from Somali, is proof of that. Ms. Ali, who suffered FGM as a young girl, is a staunch activist against it, calling for the reformation of Islam, which has all good Muslims wanting her dead. This tweet from 2011, is a taste of the hate from Linda Sarsour.

 

And this is the leader of the “women’s” movement!  However Linda Sarsour is a good Muslim who follows the life of the prophet Muhammad, and believes in Allah’s laws. Linda Sarsour can’t speak out against FGM, because Islamic law calls for it.

Her own religion calls for the mutilation of women, and she has the audacity to claim she is for women’s rights! Another lie perpetrated by her leading the women’s movement is the equality of women. Again, her own religion denies women basic human rights and courtesies, even urging husbands to hit their wives.

Linda Sarsour likes women to believe she is a feminist, tough and with no fear. However, once again the religion she chooses to obey and practice says otherwise. Do all the mothers who are divorced or seeking custody of their own children know the woman they are adoring believes women have no right to the custody of their children? Her law says so!

One of the biggest lies is Sarsours fighting for gays. According to classic sharia law, lesbians are charged with adultery.

Linda Sarsour is the leader of the women’s movement and the women’s marches here in the United States. Her own religion dictates the denigration of women on every single level, yet masses of young and old women believe in her, and follow her every word. Perhaps it is her Palestinian ethnicity, her defense of immigrants or her mysterious islamic faith so many blindly embrace her.  Maybe its the resistance and hate for our President. Whatever it is, she has managed to pull the wool over their eyes. 

 This is the same woman that calls for Jihad against out President. She isn’t a hero, she isn’t a fighter for women’s rights, she is a “good” Muslim.

Nashville’s Community Oversight Board..The Radical Connections Part 2

Previously we defined many social justice organizations within the United States as arms of Palestinian groups looking to end alliances between US law enforcement and Israel police and military.

Social justice groups working within the U.S are being funded by billionaires, who seek to destroy America, and Israel. How would it all begin? Break down law and order and cause chaos. As mentioned in Part one, the umbrella organization is the “Researching the American Israeli Alliance” (RAIA), with “Palestine is Here” and “Jewish Voice for Peace” (JVP). JVP is the fringe anti-Israel group that supports the boycott of Israel, and also the brain child behind “The Deadly Exchange”.

According to the JVP “Jewish organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) sponsor “exchange programs that bring together police, ICE, border patrol, and FBI from the U.S. with soldiers, police, border agents, etc., from Israel.” Through these exchanges, JVP says, “worst practices” are shared “to promote and extend discriminatory and repressive policing in both countries.”

JVP further “alleged that exchanges of arms, security technologies and ideologies exacerbate violence and discrimination against communities of color in both countries.” This campaign seeks to hold Jewish institutions accountable for their complicity in funding and promoting this state violence. This anti-Semitic campaign’s purpose is to accuse Jews of having blood on their hands, being responsible for state violence. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a target due to their sponsoring US law enforcement training with Israel.

So what is the Deadly Exchange? Launched in 2017, its goal is the shutting down of training and exchange of ideas, and tactics which they describe as militarizing police to kill and suppress blacks and browns. By accusing the main sponsor (ADL) of aiding in the killing of Palestinians and minority community members here in the U.S, they hope pulled monetary support, along with political correctness will shut them down.

Think this can’t happen? In April of 2018, Durham North Carolina’s City Council “The council opposes international exchanges with any country in which Durham officers receive military-style training since such exchanges do not support the kind of policing we want here in the City of Durham.”

Overlooking the real purpose of this training which is the prevention and mitigation of domestic terrorism.

Nashville’s Community Oversight Board..The Radical Connections Part 1

Do not believe for one second community social justice organizations are for building bridges to unite Americans or to promote tolerance and understanding. The truth behind the formation of groups like the American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC), Showing up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Black Lives Matter(BLM) and scores of others ( including Jewish ones) are created for many reasons, but the most egregious is the effort to dismantle U.S law enforcement , U.S prisons , and the criminal justice system as we know it.

 

With a steady and rising campaign of misinformation, these groups are aligning themselves with Palestinian civil rights supporters, attempting to prove American law enforcement is being militarized to suppress the rights of the “brown and black” communities in the United States, by attending training by Israeli police and military. In the next several articles we will expose these groups, their ideology and the completely false narrative they are promoting.

Starting with the umbrella institution the “Researching the American-Israeli Alliance”, which defines itself as “a research initiative launched in 2017 dedicated to exposing the connections between American and Israeli state violence. At RAIA, we seek to raise awareness of the close collaboration between the Israeli and American governments to surveil, profile, and control social movements, communities of color, and other marginalized populations in order to suppress popular resistance.”

 

Israel law enforcement and military have developed best practices for fighting terrorism, and civil unrest using the latest technology, and equipment which has managed to maintain law and order and reduce the number of their officers being killed. As we have seen in America, police are being ambushed and murdered, and acts of terror, although many are thwarted, there are many waiting in the wings to cause devastation and destruction. Training with those who have experience and learning how to combat domestic terrorism is paramount in keeping Americans safe and secure. In no way are American police officers attending training with Israel to suppress, oppress, or harm any communities in which they serve.
However, this is the tactic the social justice organizations are using to fight for not only tying the hands of police, but eventually abolishing them, as we can clearly see that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is their first target.

One group falling under the umbrella of RAIA (Researching the American-Israeli Alliance) is Palestine is Here. According to their website: “Palestine is Here, a project of Researching the American-Israeli Alliance (RAIA), is a database tracking Israeli military ties to American local government, police departments, corporations, and academic institutions. Using simple search algorithms to help activists expose the connections between American and Israeli state violence in their communities, the database works to support direct grassroots organizing to end US militarized trainings, academic collaborations, and technological exchanges with Israel.”

This association has collected the names of American police departments that have sent members to Israel for training or who have attended conferences and seminars here in the U.S. Their goal is to pressure law enforcement to end this training, by misleading their communities into believing they are training to kill more “blacks and browns”. One example they promote is the killing of Michael Brown and how the police handled the riots that followed in Ferguson, paralleling how Israelis kill Palestinians (brown people) in order to control and suppress them.

As we witness daily, there is an effort to rile communities of immigrants, blacks, Muslims and Latinos (both of which they define as brown) which has unified them, all agreeing they are victims of police brutality and discrimination. All believe their causes are the same and are shared with the Palestinians, both here in American and far away in Palestine.
The unification of Students for Justice in Palestine, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) Black Lives Matter (BLM) Standing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and many others, are now a force we all need to pay attention to.

Muslim Activist Declares All Women Supporting Kavanaugh Belong in Hell

 Let this sink in. Zulfat Suara thinks all women supporting Judge Brett Kavanaugh  have a special place in hell. 

So why should anyone care that Zulfat Suara, a Muslim activist in Middle TN,  thinks all women who support Judge Kavanaugh belong in hell? Because she has spent years performing dawa,( proselytizing) insinuating herself into various religious organizations promoting a narrative that she is a true follower of Islam, which is tolerant, accepting and peaceful.  Her statement above was brought on by a former Muslim from Somalia, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, whom Muslims, including Ms. Suara despise because of her honesty about how Islam treats women.

One would think the mindset of Hirsi Ali would be accepted by more Muslim women, as she works to expose the antiquated, barbaric rituals of Islam such a Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).  Ali on Islamophobia: “There is no conspiracy. Unfortunately. But if you’re an ex-Muslim there are people who want to kill you on account of deserting Islam. It’s reasonable to be a little concerned. That’s not phobia, it’s rational fear. ”  Despite her exposing the horrific ways women are treated under Islam, it is Muslims Like Zulfat Suara that hate her, and according to Suara’s statement, there is a special place in hell for her and others that support Judge Kavanaugh.

Another reason  is because Zulfat Suara is a representative of several women’s and religious organizations throughout Tennessee, whose makeup appears to include a diverse selection of women, not just those who embrace a leftist, or progressive ideology.  According to Ms. Suara’s own Linkedin page,  She is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) whose stated goal is “building bridges through working with people of goodwill to counter hate, bigotry and targeted violence.”  Ms. Suara has been involved in training Tennessee law enforcement and is also active in the Interfaith movement for which she just received an award for by the Muslim Brotherhood group the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Saying she believes there is a special palace in hell for women who support Judge Kavanaugh isn’t exactly building bridges, or countering hate is it!  In her role as Chair of the American Muslim Advisory Council, (AMAC) Ms. Suara has sat across from many Republican women, including Delores Gresham and former Speaker Beth Harwell.  Was she thinking they belong in hell for having different views?

 

 Ms. Suara also lists herself as the vice president of legislation for  the Business and Professional Women of TN.   They tout their mission is ” To achieve equity for all women in the  workplace through advocacy, education and information”  Surely they don’t exist to serve only women who hold the same political views.  Would such a large, professional institution approve of a board member making such a statement regarding women, when  all women are in fact their business?

On October 26, 2015, Ms. Suara was inducted into the Tennessee Women Hall of Fame by the Tennessee Economic Council on Women. Does the TN Women Hall of Fame agree with her statement? Surely not every women inducted in the past holds liberal views. This, like the spectacle put on last week during Judge Kavanaugh’s hearing is a disgrace, and precursor to what we can expect if the anti everything party wins.

Ms. Suara believes if you, as a woman don’t support all women you belong in hell. But wait, why is it some women have deemed themselves a protected class, that they are above reproach and never lie?  Women lie, but according to Suara, it doesn’t matter. Her women should support women theory goes out the window fast though. The very woman she despises, Ayann Hirsi Ali exposes the horrific procedure of female genital mutilation, which is to save women and young girls.   So much for Zulfat Suara    supporting  all women.

Ms. Suara has done a fabulous job at deceiving women in Tennessee. She appears friendly, warm and  sincere..but only to those who share the same values, no wonder she received an award for her work in deception, she is a master at it.

Muslims Training Children to Kill Children Have Charges Dismissed

   New Mexico Eighth Judicial District Attorney Donald Gallegos has failed in his duty to serve justice in the state of New Mexico as 3 of 5 Muslim defendants found to be training 11 children to kill other children were freed of the charges against them. In what should have been a clear and swift hearing before the grand jury to indict them, Gallegos failed to file proper papers within the allotted time, therefore according to NM law, the defendants must be released.

According to an order written by District Court Judge Susan Baccus, it is perfectly clear DA Gallegos was negligent in preparing the case, even to the point one must wonder if this was intentional.  In the Order Denying Motion to Detain Defendant Without Bail and Order Setting Conditions of Release, the following evidence was not produced by the District Attorneys office.

This is a sample of what the DA did not do. ( read entire order here) In addition to failing to provide proper evidence, the compound where the 11 children were being trained was demolished, hence any future evidence destroyed. Why would the entire compound not been kept as a crime scene until the case was over? There was no one else living there, conditions were deplorable. 

Even more disturbing, Taos County prosecutors Timothy Hasson and John Lovelace told the court that Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj died in “a ritual intended to cast out demonic spirits.” This isn’t how we treat our children with seizures in this country, this is how antiquated, barbarians live.  However, once again the race and religious victim card was played by the defense attorney right from the start. Defense attorneys said prosecutors sought to criminalize their clients for being African-Americans of Muslim faith. “

“If these people were white and Christian, nobody would bat an eye over the idea of faith healing, or praying over a body or touching a body and quoting scripture,” defense lawyer Thomas Clark told reporters after the hearing. “But when black Muslims do it, there seems to be something nefarious, something evil.” 

Once again, the headline is lost and the left has twisted the facts.  Unfortunately, this isn’t about 11 children being starved, or abused, this has become about black Muslims who they claim were targets, and a District Attorneys office who failed to do their job. Who will be responsible when Lucas Morten, Hujrah Wahhaj, and Subannah Wahhaj flee New Mexico and actually conduct their stated mission to kill?  It’s time to get over the Muslims are victims mentality and understand there are those who want to kill us. What more proof could they need then the training of children to kill children.

Why Are Islamic Training Compounds Allowed To Exist in America?

With the recent discovery of an Islamic compound training children to kill, and also the recovery of a young boys remains, it’s hard to imagine why these camps are allowed to exist. A few weeks ago in Amalia NM, police raided a piece of property Muslims were said to be squatting on, but had received information several children were living in absolute horrific conditions. Five men and women were arrested, with 4 being able to post bond. 

As the investigation continues, it has been discovered through an interview with an FBI agent, the children had received advanced firearms training, which they were instructed to shoot law enforcement when the time came. In addition to shooting police, a 10 page document titled “Phases of a Terrorist Attack” directed them to shoot teachers, and bank and hospital workers. The belief is any institution that was corrupt should be shown the truth via violence.  The  handwritten document also included instruction  on the use of a ‘choke point,’  locations ‘called the ideal attack site,’ the ‘ability to defend the safe haven,’ the ‘ability to escape-perimeter rings,’ and ‘sniper position detection procedure,’ One of those “ideal attack sites” was Grady Hospital in Atlanta GA, where one of the female defendants Jany Leveille stated her displeasure of treatment for her mother. 

Although this location in NM did not identify by a religious name, the similarities to Islamberg in Hancock NY and Dover TN and other Muslims of the America compounds is alarming,  All have several young children living in squalor, all are in remote areas of their counties, and all are affiliated with Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani of Lahore Pakistan. Gilani is also the founder and leader of the terrorist organization Jamaat Ul Fuqra, who kidnapped and beheaded Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. 

3 year old Abdul-Ghani was taken from his mother in Atlanta GA by his father, one of the defendants, Sirhaj Ibn Wahhaj and Jany Leveille, who knew Abdul couldn’t walk and needed medicine for seizures and other ailments related to his birth. Refusing to give his son his medication, would cause seizures in the child, which Wahhaj would tell the other children his son was possessed by jinns, and shayteen (evil spirits and the devil).  Wahhaj and Leveille would perform rituals on Abdul, and sometimes force the other children to watch, or clean him after his seizure.  Due to lack of medication, Abdul passed away, and his father told the other children Abdul would come back as Jesus.

While the NM compound has not been directly linked to Islamberg, the performing of rituals and the belief that diseases can be cured is espoused by women living in Islamberg known as Banaatan Noor International INC.  Started by Sheikh Mubarak Gillani claiming to have in fact cured many afflicted with various illnesses, did Wahhaj and the others believe in and practice that same theory?

In the below video,released by the Muslims of America (MOA) to promote their goodness and service to the community, is a description of what they call the El Gillani Methodology, which uses select portions of the Koran, Supplications and “spiritual exercises”  to cure diseases.  Watch starting at 8:51.

 

Could  it be  this group of Muslims that practices rites and rituals to cure many illnesses be what was practiced on 3 year old Abdul Ghani?

Justice or Revenge..Nashville Tennessee’s Possible Oversight Committee.Part 3.

It’s clear many law enforcement higher ups, elected officials and members of communities across the nation want change within their respective police agencies. Transparency and accountability are two of the areas which seem to be the hotbed of discussion now, as more police involved shootings are occurring across America. What isn’t clear, and really not even a part of the discussion, are the criminals themselves, and how accountability relates to them. Why is it police need “fixing” and the communities with the biggest stakes do not? 

Hundreds of young black men are being killed in wars within their own neighborhoods, whether by gang members, drug dealers, or as a result of disputes only solved by violence. There aren’t marches of protest between mothers of those killed and mothers of their killers. There aren’t rallies demanding fathers take accountability of those they brought into this world. Black on black killings seems to be readily acceptable as a fate that just occurs because of poor gun laws. 

Fake outrage driven by false narratives, perpetuated by the left and its media, and funded by those who want to drastically alter, and destroy America are a major part of the equation. Rage and cries of racism only seems to surface when a white police officer shoots a member of the black community. Never mind facts  and circumstances. This is why the formation of a community oversight board in Nashville TN needs much more work and more input by cooler heads. The current coalition making demands isn’t about justice, it’s a witch hunt for revenge. Fire the officer and charge him with murder! Yet no mention the subject had a gun and should have followed the officers direction to drop it. 

Newly elected Mayor Briley seems non-committal only to say if the referendum to implement a community oversight board fails, he will issue an executive order irregardless. So what will this board accomplish, what powers should it have and who is funding it? 

On the Community Oversight Nashville’s website is the proposed legislation in which there are several interesting points, with the first one being no law enforcement, retired or active, or elected officials are eligible to serve. The oversight of a police department certainly does require someone with knowledge of standard operating procedures, penal law, and criminal procedure law. So much for being inclusive. 

The purpose of this board is to have the right to investigate citizen complaints of misconduct by Metro Nashville Police employees, and make recommendations to the Office of Professional Accountability on discipline. If the board believes a criminal act has occurred, they may refer the matter to the Grand Jury, for their investigation and indictment if appropriate,

The majority of Community Oversight boards, or Civilian Review Boards across the country, are similar and have proven effective, in accordance with the laws and rules of their respective agencies. Most members of these boards have been able to remain unbiased, and reasonable, after receiving facts and circumstances,  and coming to fair conclusions to recommend disciplinary actions. 

Where an oversight committee becomes overreach is the expectancy they have the rights to information and evidence, which includes records, recordings and trainings on pending criminal cases. In order to preserve the rights of everyone involved in a criminal or civil case, those items should remain private and only  those involved..law enforcement, judges, lawyers and defendants should be privy to that data.

As with any American in any case, whether civil or criminal, if found not guilty,the case is over. By requiring an officer be mandated to accept any of the aforementioned, is to insinuate their guilt.  

Again, as in any case where there is the possibility to be charged criminally or to be disciplined because of alleged misconduct, a defendant has the right to face their accuser. Complaints made anonymously can be erroneous, and are unable to be verified. Facts and evidence are crucial to a fair outcome, not allegations based on verbal, nameless, accusations. 

These are just two examples of why boards created out of anger, by disenfranchised and disgruntled community members will not be effective. Police officers have rights just as the defendants or complainants in the case do.  The formation of a group like this to make recommendations outlined in this proposal is redundant, as the steps are already in place. If an officer is found to have committed a crime, it is handed over to the District Attorney for presentation before a Grand Jury. Civil rights are forwarded to the appropriate level attorney generals, and If misconduct is found, disciplinary action is taken by the police department. 

While leaders and community members may not agree or be happy with an outcome, there is no guarantee the community will be accepting of the findings of the Community Oversight board either. As we have seen in video after video, there is a cry for instant street justice. Fire the officer! Charge them with murder!  No justice no peace. 

Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both.

Justice or Revenge..Nashville Tennessee’s Possible Police Oversight Committee. Part Two

Two Camden NJ detectives, and an FBI agent in Los Angeles CA were shot last week. Thankfully they are expected to recover, however 35 others shot this year were not as fortunate. These tragic incidents are a result of the targeting of police, due in part to the hate and disrespect being perpetuated by groups wanting to oversee them.  The more one digs into who and what the agenda of the potential Police oversight committee in Nashville TN is, the more one can see it isn’t about justice..it’s all about revenge.

In last weeks article, we revealed Black Lives Matter was one of the members of the coalition looking for a seat at the tablet to oversee what they deem misconduct by Metro Nashville Police. Another group looking to have a say is Standing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ). SURJ joins the rank along with BLM in being anti-police, and believing white supremacy is the underlying problem across the board. On their website, under “theory of change” this group has 3 strategies they believe in. 

Again, could members of this group have an unbiased opinion, and make reasonable suggestions for discipline based on what they believe? To SURJ, racist institutions are anything white. Obviously they do not know black unemployment is down to 6.6%, the lowest in a decade. What seems to be missing from these organizations missions or values is the root of the problem, family. Blaming police for all of their ills is easy. Fixing the structure within their communities is the hard part. 

To many of the groups looking to be apart of “fixing” and overhauling law enforcement, they fail to fix the criminal. Not once do they question the actions of those committing the crime. Not once do they outwardly accept they have a responsibility to obey laws. It’s really pretty simple. Obey laws, and you don’t deal with the police. The constant narrative the system is broken can only be fixed when those in the system fix themselves.

Gicola Lane is a prime example. Demands actions disregards facts.

Officers protecting themselves from thugs with guns, is not misconduct, it’s survival. If Nashville wants  accountability of those hired to protect and enforce, perhaps they should start in their own backyard.

Muslims in Tennessee Praise Father of Child Terrorist Ring

On Friday Aug 3 2018, in a remote area of Taos County New Mexico, a raid was conducted by the Sheriffs office after receiving information a missing child was on what is described as a “training” compound. An Islamist extremest compound, similar to others throughout the county know as Islamville, or Islamburg. The compound, which was situated on 10 acres of land, was set up to be a Waco style camp, where 11 children were found starving,  living in third world country conditions, and being trained to conduct mass school shootings.  Authorities believe the remains of a small child’s body found was the disabled son of Siraj Ibn Wahhaj. In Dec of last year, the childs mother reported him missing, stating the father, Sirhaj Ibn Wahhaj, believed his sons disability was demonic, and was going to perform an exorcism on him.The two men arrested on the property were Sirhaj Ibn Wahhaj, and Lucas Morten,  who were heavily armed with an ,AR-15 rifle, four loaded pistols and five loaded 30-round magazines. 

If the name Sirhaj  Wahhaj sounds familiar, it should.  The leader of the NM compounds father, Sirhaj Wahhajj is a well known radical imam from Brooklyn NY, who was named an un-indicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Wahhaj senior heads the Masjid At-Taqwa in Bedford-Stuyvesant, a mosque known for radical ties to terrorism. But that didn’t stop Tennessean Muslims from praising him.

In 2016, Wahhaj visited Nashvilles Islamic Center of Tennessee, where he was invited to give the Friday prayers Khutbah, or sermon. Then acting director of the American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC), Paul “Iesa” Galloway was thrilled.

Drost Kokoye, another Muslim activist who often states her disdain for America, and its law enforcement was also excited to her the terrorist speak.

 

2016 wasn’t the first or last time Wahhaj came to Tennessee. In 2013 the same mosque hosted him to deliver a sermon, which they labeled a fund raiser. Wahhaj participated in many discussion with Memphis Imam Yasir Qadhi as well. 

One of the most interesting relationships is with media darling,  Muslim activist Linda Sarsour, who claims Wahhaj is her mentor and is “legendary”. 

Islamists in America want you to believe they are pious, righteous Muslims who only want to coexist, while their relationships with Muslim thugs tells otherwise. The hate for America seems to run in the family, and other Muslims don’t seem to mind.

Justice or Revenge.. Nashville Tennessee’s Possible Police Oversight Committee. Part One.

In today’s social climate, law enforcement in general is disrespected, and vilified on a regular basis. So far this year 34 police officers across the country have been shot and killed, due in part to  their concern they will not have the backing of their departments and become headline news, which can cost them their job,and in these cases, the ultimate price of their lives. Unfortunately, in many police agencies the morale is low, while the concern for the community outweighs concern for their officers. 

This is clearly the case for my brothers and sisters in blue on the Nashville Metro Police Department as a new mayor seems to have other interests besides his police. To be clear, yes, it is important and vital to have mutual respect for the communities in which you serve. While members and leaders within neighborhoods must feel they can trust the police, it also goes the other way, where the police should be able to trust and rely on them as well. 

This is the beginning of a conversation on what Mayor Briley has been non-committal on, and what certain members of the black community are demanding..a community oversight committee. Briley, who took over as Mayor after former Mayor Megan Berry was discovered having an affair with her police bodyguard, states” I believe it’s time for a comprehensive assessment of how we do policing in our city,” 

According to the Tennessean Newspaper, the board would have authority to investigate allegations of misconduct against Nashville police officers and recommend discipline, including forwarding findings of criminal misconduct and civil rights violations to the district attorney, grand jury or U.S. attorney.

So what is a Community Oversight Committee or Civilian Review Board?  A municipal body composed of five to nine citizen representatives charged with the investigation of complaints by members of the public concerning misconduct by police officers. Such bodies may be independent members of the community,  whose goal is to ensure transparency and accountability using rules and guidelines set forth by their initial formation. To be effective, members of these committees must remain unbiased, fair and reasonable.They also must be willing to look at all complaints, not just those involving their own community. After sharing input, and their findings, they must be willing to accept outcomes driven by investigations and facts. As with any fact finding agendas, fairness is paramount to a successful relationship.

Unfortunately, what we have seen so far from the Community Oversight Nashville, is what an Oversight Committee should NOT be. According to their website, their are several organizations who have joined their coalition. Many are legitimate, well organized,and well recognized for their work in black communities across the country, such as the NAACP. One group, that may give a black eye to this committee is Black Lives Matter. Their involvement loses all credibility and legitimacy of what should be a fair, unbiased board. 

After reading through the Black Lives Matter Nashville website, it is clearly evident they are anti-police, and racist. In a statement issued by BLM in reference to a rally last year in Shelbyville TN, they say this:

One must ask how an organization that wants to oversee actions of the police, would be unbiased, when they believe law enforcement entities are run by white supremacists.  Another issue with BLM  is its formation was attached to a false narrative during the Ferguson riots, using the chant “Hands up don’t shoot”, insinuating Michael Brown was shot and killed while trying to surrender to the police officer. This was proven to be false in two separate rulings.  Can those chanting “pigs in a blanket” or What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now”! be a viable , effective participant in a committee who is seeking justice based on facts?

With Black Lives Matter involved , it will not be an oversight committee, but rather an overreach one. They don’t want justice, they seek revenge. Nashville can and must do better.
