University of Tennessee at Martin Hosts Black Lives Matter

America’s melting pot is about to boil over, and college campuses are turning the flame up to high, with little or no regard to the consequences that may occur. At a time when the racial division is at an all time peak, the University of Tennessee at Martin, located in rural Western Tennessee is playing host to ” Social Justice in the Age of Black Lives Matter”, a conference being held February 16th, and the 19th-24th.

Although this is an annual event, this year brings with it some guest speakers and a movie that could be labeled aggressive and agitative. Once again, an opportunity to use a platform to help heal wounds  and move communities from the anger and violence it has experienced is passed over.

One of the first events is the showing of  “13th”, an inflammatory documentary promoting anti-police rhetoric, fueled with angry opinions on the criminal justice system, oppression, and their allegations of slavery.

The conference will also highlight speakers such as Kwame Rose, a young black man who earned his few minutes of fame  during the riots in Baltimore, and the extreme radical activist Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson. Henderson, a member and organizer with Concerned Citizens for Justice and a board member of the Highlander Education and Research Center (formerly the Highlander Folk School) brings a plethora of social justice experience including organizing Black Lives Matter marches in Ferguson, and her fight on the coal industry in Tennessee. Back up..the Highlander Education and Research Center? Formerly known as the Highlander Folk School, it is interesting to note that institutions background with Communism.

Once again, it all comes full circle as we see young black activists being recruited by Communists, Socialists and Islamists, including George Soros and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Soros donating $500,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, and CAIR exclaiming the Black Lives Matter is their matter.

It is disturbing to see a Tennessee State University use their resources to promote what could be a training session for upcoming protests  against America. Creating an environment where whiteness is evil, shaping young minds to believe they are slaves, and pushing an anti-American agenda.

As taxpayers of Tennessee, there should be two questions to ask. Who is paying for this conference?  Listed on the conference poster for more information is an email address for the university, not an organization..the university.

In today’s political climate ,universities should be a place for fair and balanced debates and conversations. As we have seen though, that has not been the case. Were invitations extended to esteemed black leaders such as Dr. Carol Swain, Dr. Ben Carson, or retired Colonel Allen West? Doubtful, as the environment across campuses nationwide leans towards political correctness and anti American sentiment.

  1. We are rife with thugs and thuggery, provided by anarchists, Soros at the head. It will lead to another”Night of the Long Knives.” Folks are playing with naivety as the left is playing with the fire that will ignite. What the left and the anarchists want is for shooting to break out at one of these marches, no matter which side and once that happens you will not know which side holds the cards, the truth and you will be consumed with propaganda, yet not know who to support. As Lenin did, a few took the Bolsheviks to power and created the communist empire in Russia, and Hitler used the same game plan with the Brown Shirts and when they were no longer needed they were purged. So be it. Black lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street , Acorn, all are nothing but sideshows , but the real power behind will pull the plug and then take power as they have used their propaganda ministers to galvanize the populace. Universities again are rife with infiltrators and yes that spark is very near to happening. At this point in time, who knows which way this will go, but keep your powder dry provide for a couple months of food and yes make damn sure your sighted in. It will not be pretty if it goes the way Obama and his new shadow gov’t down the street from the White house is wanting it to go.,

  2. this entire conference is in place to celebrate black lives and get the message across that we should all be equal. listen to this whiny post talking about “oh no this is evil!!! hate speech!!! terrorism!! ut martin is full of thugs!!!” how disgusting. get your head out of your ass and realize that racism is real in america (ESPECIALLY in the south) and movements like these combat racism, they don’t create anti-white rhetoric (which is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard).

    1. As a white man from rural Tennessee, I can say that “Black Lives Matter”, and I don’t think that Black Lives Matter creates a hostile environment or is anti-white. I think that UTM is doing a great job with the conference and I’m glad that they continue to engage in such dialogue.

    2. well since you have taken the time to respond several times…Love, (yes I know you are the same writer. you left a trail), I just have to say thank you for revealing yourself.

    3. To be clear, I am agreeing with “Anonymous” who said this conference is meant to combat racism. Anyone who feels threatened by a conference centered on equality and social justice needs to check their motives. We should always encourage open communication and dialogue about critical issues like racism and civil rights.

  3. As a white conservative from a white conservative background with a white conservative outlook on race relations and campus life, I am not an apologist for a liberal agenda. However, as a resident of Martin, Tennessee, the hometown of this university, and as one who attended all of these events, I can tell you that you are dead wrong. The whole conference was a platform to hear ideas from people involved in these movements. It was, in no way, a platform to support radicalism, a liberal agenda, or to silence any voices who might disagree with the attitudes expressed by the speakers. It was a productive time in which conservative, Southern Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, atheist, etc. white leaders and other locals and academics came together with black leaders, black protestors, and black students and had meals and heard speakers, and sang hymns, and talked about the state of race relations in this country. UT Martin had Scottie Nell Hughes (look her up) speak twice on this campus in the last year, and she was given every courtesy I would expect a gentleman to give a lady. Other conservative speakers are the norm on this campus, not the exception. If you’re trying to give UTM a Berkley-like image, you’ve got a long, long, way to go. This is the sleepiest Southern college town you’re gonna find. Spend your time on something that divides us. Don’t you be the one who lives like a leech off of the life blood of this country–folks coming together in a democratic way to understand each other so that they can get on living the way God intended them to live!

  4. UTM has a long history of Civil Rights activism. This is the 17th Annual Civil Rights Conference. UTM is only one of two universities in the United States that continues to host a Civil Rights Conference. Social Justice in the Age of Black Lives Matter, and all you focus on is Black Lives Matter. I encourage you to attend an event and see for yourselves, this is a peaceful organization, one that has been around for 17 years, one that is organized by black people, white people, brown people, and everyone in between.

    1. Agreed! As a Martin local, I will not let sensationalism pull our town apart. I guess I’m reading it so, in some way I’m supporting the madness, but I cannot let this kind of filth that passes for concerned citizenship pass by without me saying something. Cathy Hinners is selling her book on Amazon, but there’s now way I can buy it now when it comes from someone who twists the truth just so that this conference can fit into a ready-made narrative primed for one of the many conservative or liberal talking heads on our TV! It is a great conference, and it is a time of healing and acceptance of democratic values and the rule of law, not some sneaky way to introduce Sharia law into our country like this paranoid hack would have you believe!

      1. Well well, thank you also for posting responses several times, I see you must be employed at UTM. I certainly hope you are not an educator, as you aren’t very bright. Please don’t buy my book, I leave that for those that want to learn, and who could read it without having to look words up.

        1. Cathy, you live in a hateful world. “Several times” must mean two, because that’s all that I posted, and I didn’t try to disguise the fact. Not everyone is out to get you. And, if we’re talking about “bright,” you have two comma errors in the last phrase of your snappy retort. I certainly hope you have a good editor!

  5. How many of these conferences has the writer of this post attended? I am sure NONE!!!! If so, they would know that for the past 15 years we have had similar speakers with no complaints or concerns. We have had Kathleen Cleaver, Bob Mosely, Michelle Alexander, Diane Nash, Julian Bond, John Robert Zellner, Ben Cox and many others. The entire conference focuses on Civil Right issues..past, present, and future. Our committee is very diverse and that shows togetherness. There has been no violence in the 12+ years that I have been involved. I have learned very much, not only from African Americans, but from all of the panelist. Please understand that Civil Right issues are not limited to one ethnicity, but to everybody. I am glad to know that UTM is one of the only 2 universities in the US with a Civil Rights Conference. In closing, let me take a moment to personally invite you to come out so that you can learn something too!!!

  6. Dear writer,

You’ve sadly lost all your sense of reasoning and I therefore call you a racist! Have you for once attended one of this event? You know what, people like you are such hypocrites. You’re the reason why hate still flourishes on earth but then you attend church on sunday. I wonder how you live your life daily – spreading hate?

You’ve created this unorganized website to be heard buy haven’t you heard that people who only use their voice to spread hate never gets heard? You might ruffle a few feathers because there are people who suffer from the same deformity as you do but you should know that at the end of the day you’re voiceless!

Young man or woman, you’d better go find a new course for your life. This one has ended sadly with nothing to show for it.

    Sincerely,
    LOVE

  7. Dear writer,

You’ve sadly lost all your sense of reasoning and I therefore call you a racist! Have you for once attended one of these events in all its 17 years? I actually think you have. You sat in the front or maybe the back and burned to ashes you listened to each speaker. You know what, people like you are such hypocrites. You’re the reason why hate still flourishes on earth but then you attend church on sunday. I wonder how you live your life daily – spreading hate?

You’ve created this unorganized website to be heard but haven’t you heard that people who only use their voice to spread hate never gets heard? 8. Yet and again another misinformed white person who has focused in on the last three words of the conference’s title and has launched into a tirade about something you obviously know nothing about. You should first check your facts before sticking your foot in your mouth. But given the present political climate in this country where the leader of the free world often does this without thinking, I guess you feel you are entitled to do the same. Check the real facts about this conference and not the ALTERNATIVE facts you are presenting in your article.

  9. Ms Cathy, how dare you!!!!!!!!!!!! You invite a bit of reason and discourse and out of the slime at the curb of the road flows the cockroaches , er snowflakes, ah maybe just uneducated misinformed fools who attack anyone who does not view the world in their narrow vision. None have done their homework. Few if any know you have a price on your head by the so called peaceful Muslims who want you raped and beheaded. No, Ms Cathy, you do great service and yes you have shaken some of these folks with lobotomies to try to resurrect that impaired state of reasoning. Still laughing at some of these ignorant, vile and unintelligent posts.
